Compliance and Privacy Analyst (AZ)

Description
Healthcare is hard. At Oscar, we're here to make it easier. Our team includes people from a broad range of backgrounds who have joined Oscar to make a frustrating system more accessible, transparent, and human.
Oscar is currently operating in 6 states and will continue to grow. Everywhere we work, we must comply with state and federal requirements including both the Affordable Care Act and HIPAA (and their state-level equivalents), along with implementing regulations. The Compliance and Privacy Analyst will report to the Senior Manager of Compliance in our Tempe office (the Oscar Health Hub), supporting the activities of Oscar's Compliance Program by ensuring - through auditing, monitoring, and education efforts - that our operations continue to meet applicable legal and regulatory standards across all markets. The Compliance and Privacy Analyst will also be responsible for the day-to-day operationalization of our privacy policies, by working with all departments and analyzing business processes to mitigate the risk of unintentional or unauthorized data disclosures, and by analyzing and responding to such disclosures that do occur. The goal is to maintain an effective Compliance Program.
In your first six weeks, you will:
Learn to support the Senior Manager of Compliance in guiding Oscar through federal and state audits, in monitoring business processes for regulatory compliance, and in developing corrective action as appropriate
Familiarize yourself with Oscar's methods for identifying, logging, analyzing, and (where necessary) reporting data disclosures
By the end of month 3, you will:
Proactively support the Senior Manager of Compliance by identifying and responding to compliance needs in the Oscar Health Hub
Independently manage Oscar's day-to-day processes for addressing privacy concerns across the organization
Begin work with staff responsible for IT and physical security in all Oscar locations to mitigate data disclosure risks
Afterwards and on an ongoing basis, you will:
Anticipate Compliance Program needs at all Oscar locations, contributing to auditing and monitoring activity where necessary, and suggesting additions to the annual Compliance Work Plan
Suggest and implement process changes to minimize data disclosure risks
Develop and deliver training programs on HIPAA and privacy-related compliance
Chart a path forward to personal growth as a Compliance professional in a dynamic, fast-paced organization

We're on a mission to change healthcare -- an experience made whole by your unique background and perspectives.
